What is the typical length of the assignments?
A: Most assignments for traveling
nurses with Power Personnel are 13 weeks long. Although some assignments
are as short as 4 and 8 weeks or as long as 26 weeks. In addition, we
offer positions that are temporary, temporary-to-hire and direct hire.
Q:
How long is my commitment to Power Personnel?
A: Your commitment lasts only as long
as your assignment lasts. Once you have completed your assignment, you
can choose a variety of options. You can extend your assignment; you can
choose another assignment with Power Personnel, accept a permanent position
or just take time off.
Q:
What type of benefits will I receive?
A: Major benefits
include medical insurance programs, travel reimbursement and automobile
reimbursement. Subsidized housing, license reimbursement, loyalty bonuses
up to $500 and a refer-a-friend bonus up to $400.
Q:
How am I paid?
A: The majority of nurses are paid
on a weekly basis. You can have your check mailed.
Q:
How do I get to my assignment?
A: We strongly recommend that you
take a car to your assignment. You will want to have the
ability to explore new surroundings at your leisure and it is often easier
than relying on public
transportation. However you choose to get to your assignment, we will
provide you with a
generous travel reimbursement.
Q:
How do you handle my housing?
A: We are most interested in locating
safe, clean, new and convenient housing for you. Our recommendation is
a two bedroom shared housing, fully furnished apartment, however, if you
would prefer a private studio, this can be arranged also.
Q:
How does Power Personnel, Inc. handle taxes?
A: Because our nurses are legally
our employee, we pay for workers' compensation and all payroll taxes.
Payroll taxes will be deducted from your check and paid directly to the
IRS and the State of California.
Q:
What if I am an independent contractor?
A: You will be responsible for tax
deductions and workers' compensation. You must have the required documents
to verify your independent contractor's status.

Do you do temp-to-direct-hire?
A: Yes.
Q:
How much experience does Power Personnel, Inc. require?
A: Power Personnel, Inc. requires
one-year experience within your specialty classifiction however, our offices
can help you get the experience and arrange preceptor programs.

What credentials are needed to become employed with Power Personnel?
A: Current license or certificate,
Current CPR and PPD, current physical, and I-9 Documentation 2 references,
completed application, and a minimum 1-year of recent clinical experience
in an acute care or long-term facility.

Do I have to sign a one-year contract?
A: No. Your contractual commitment
is only for one assignment at a time. While on assignment you can decide
if you would like to extend your current assignment, accept a different
Power Personnel assignment, take a direct-hire position or simply take
some time off. The choice is always yours.
Q:
If a friend and I want to travel together, is it feasible to obtain assignments
in the same city?
A: Because we have so many assignments
available, traveling with a friend is no problem. Power Personnel has
many travel partners who travel together and work at the same facility
or different facilities in the same city.

Can I bring family members, friends when I travel to assignments?
A: Of course! Power Personnel, Inc.
understands and supports our travelers' desire to have family, and friends
on assignment with them.
Q:
How long will the process take to be approved and choose an assignment?
A: The timetable depends on you and
how quickly YOU want to move forward. If you have all the required documentation
at your fingertips we can begin reviewing assignments with you immediately
upon our receipt of your application. Depending on where you choose to
go, you could begin work within a few days or a few weeks. Some of our
nurses even set up assignments 3 to 4 months in advance.

A: Yes. Hundreds of Power Personnel
assignments offer Sign-on / Completion and Loyalty Bonuses. These incentives

Q:
If I refer a friend to Power Personnel, Inc. am I eligible for a referral
bonus?
A: Absolutely! In fact, more healthcare
professionals come to Power Personnel through referral from their friends
and co-workers than from any other source. Our program provides you with
an easy way of making referrals and earning $400
for RN's and $250 for LVN's and $100 for CNA's..

Can I add my spouse or dependents to the Power Personnel, Inc. medical
benefits?
A: Yes, you may add dependents to
our group plan. You simply complete the enrollment paperwork and pay the
monthly premium.

What type of housing accommodations can I expect?
A: Housing available at each assignment
location. A shared two bedroom/bath is typical. However, should you prefer
to a private studio or one bedroom, we can arrange this also. Occasionally,
if the healthcare facility owns a house or apartment building, you may
stay in hospital provided housing. Power Personnel offers you a monthly
subsidiary to off set your housing costs.

What if I am not comfortable with the facility I was sent to? Will I still
be assigned to that facility.
A: Let us know ASAP so that we may
contact your manager and resolve any issues that you may have. We would
like you to feel comfortable with the facility you are at.

Does Power Personnel pay well?
A: Yes, Our hourly rates are high
and very competitive.

How do I renew my license and CPR card?
A: Call your recruiter ASAP! Your
recruiter will set up the date, time and location for renewal of your
license or CPR card.

Where do you offer assignments?
A: We currently place nurses throughout
California including the San Jose, Monterey, San Francisco Bay Areas,
Los Angeles and San Diego.
Q:
How long before my Medical Insurance becomes effective.
A: It depends on you. Once you choose
the insurance option, your insurance will become effective the first day
of the following month.
Q:
Can I send my resume in place of the application or previous employment
section?
A: No. Not all facilities require
the same documentation. It is very important that you complete all documents
and a completed application.
Q:
Do you pay moving costs?
A: We do not cover moving costs, however
we do reimburse you for your travel from your permanent residence to your
Power Personnel assignment. Most travel reimbursement is contract specific
however we do reimburse at $.48 per mile for your own automobile, airplane
or train tickets up to $500.
Q:
Do you have lots of jobs available for LVN/LPN'S?
A: The majority of our nursing jobs
are for RN'S, and we do have several LPN opportunities as well.
Q:
Are LVN/LPN'S and CNA'S eligible for the same benefits package?
A: Yes. Medical and Dental. Bonuses
for CNA'S are slightly less.

Q.
What is an Interim Permit?
A: First time examination candidates
may apply for an Interim Permit to work while awaiting the results of
their examination.
Q.
When can an Interim Permit be issued?
A: Interim Permits cannot be issued
until all nursing requirements are completed and the applicant has been
found eligible for examination.
Q.
How often can I apply for an Interim Permit?
A: Interim Permits will be issued
one time only.

Are there requirements for practice under the Interim Permit?
A: Yes. A permittee shall practice
under the direct supervision of a registered nurse who shall be present
and available on the patient care unit during the entire time the permittee
is rendering professional services. The supervising registered nurse may
delegate to the permittee any function taught in the pertmittee's basic
nursing program which, in the judgement of the supervising registered
nurse, the permittee is capable of performing.

How long is an Interim Permit good for?
A: Interim Permits are valid for no
longer than 6 months. Interim Permits are null and void as soon as the
examination results are sent to the applicant. If test results are sent
before the end of the six months, the interim permit expires immediately.

How do I qualify for an Interim Permit?
A: To qualify for an Interim Permit,
the examination applicant must meet the following requirements:

What is the total processing time for Licensure by Examination which includes
the Interim Permit?
A: Examination applicants should submit
their applications at least four (4) months prior to the date that they
wish to take the examination to allow for processing time and receipt
of all required documents.

For Licensure For The Taveling Nurse
To qualify for
endorsement into California as a registered nurse, an applicant must hold
a current and active license in another state, completion of the nursing
program in an accredited school of professional nursing which meets all
of California's educational requirements, and have passed the national
council licensure examination (NCLEX). If you do not possess these qualifications,
you must apply for licensure by examination.
Q.
What is a Temporary License?
A: The California Board of Nursing
may issue a temporary license to practice nursing for a period of six
(6) months, allowing an applicant to work pending issuance of a permanent
license. Since fingerprint results and school transcripts can often take
some time to reach the Board for evaluation, the Board strongly recommends
applying for a temporary license to allow you to begin to work pending
permanent licensure.

When is a temporary license issued?
A: It is advisable for endorsement
applicants to apply for a temporary license in order to be able to begin
working while awaiting fingerprint results and permanent licensure.
Q.
How long does it take to get a temporary license?
A: Please allow at least four (4)
weeks for processing a temporary license. Processing times can vary, depending
on timeliness of receipt of documents from schools, agencies, and other
states. Please be aware that processing of an application indicating a
prior conviction may take longer than other applications.

How do I qualify for a temporary license?
A: The endorsement applicant must:
- Submit completed

- Submit two (2)
completed fingerprint cards
- Submit completed
Application for Temporary License
- Submit appropriate

- Submit Verification
of License form from the other state which must be received by the Board
as proof or a clear, active, and current RN license.

What happens when the temporary license is about to expire?
A: Temporary licenses are issued for
6 months. If you have not received notification of permanent licensure
approximately four week prior to the expiration of your temporary license,
contact the Board immediately for instruction on how to apply for a second
temporary license.

What other requirements are necessary for Licensure by Endorsement?
A: There may be other application
requirements, and important issues that you will want to review on the
State Boards web site. All information, application forms, and detailed
procedures are on www.rn.ca.gov.
